School of Electrical System Engineering

The Schools of Electrical Systems Engineering (SESE)

ABOUT THE SCHOOL

The pioneer Dean, Professor Adegoke Oladipo Melodi on behalf of all faculty members and entire staff warmly welcome you to School of Electrical Systems Engineering (SESE), Federal University of Technology Akure, Nigeria. This is a global oriented faculty that is committed to providing a world-class education to students from all over the world by harnessing and galvanizing available rich and robust human resources with the power of technology and condusive environment for learning to foster innovation, creativity, and critical thinking in the students thereby making our products self-reliant. The School which is an offshoot of the former School of Engineering and Engineering Technology took off in 2024 with five departments viz; Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information and Communication Technology Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. The philosophy of the school is built around the believe that the complexities of modern electrical systems require an interdisciplinary approach that integrates principles from electrical, computer, information and communication (ICT) and biomedical engineering.

The School aim to produce graduates who are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to excel in their chosen fields and make meaningful contributions to society, communities, and nations and thrive in a rapidly changing world. The programs of the school in all departments were meticulously developed with a vision to educate, inspire, and empower the next generation of electrical systems engineers, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and passion to design, develop, and deploy innovative technologies that transform lives and communities. Our students are made industry ready through our deliberate approach of practical application oriented teaching, industrialization and innovation centered research, and international collaboration in development of solutions that will drive the Millennium Development Goals (MDG). All of these are made available to our students through:

1. Hands-on Learning: We believe that hands-on learning experiences are essential for developing the practical skills and problem-solving abilities required by industry.

2. Innovation and Entrepreneurship: We believe that innovation and entrepreneurship are key drivers of economic growth and development, and we strive to instill these values in our graduates by embracing creativity, curiosity, and risk-taking to drive technological advancements.

3. Social Responsibility: We believe that engineers have a responsibility to use their skills and knowledge to benefit society and address pressing global challenges.

4. Lifelong Learning: We believe that learning is a lifelong process, and we strive to equip our graduates with the skills and attitudes necessary to adapt to an ever-changing technological landscape. 5. Excellence: Striving for exceptional quality, precision, and reliability in all aspects of electrical systems engineering. 6. Collaboration: Fostering a culture of teamwork, mutual respect, and open communication to achieve common goals.

7. Sustainability: Developing technologies that minimize environmental impact, promote energy efficiency, and support sustainable development. 8. Global Perspective: Embracing diversity, cultural awareness, and international collaboration to address global challenges.
